India’s B2B footwear outlook for 2026: five shifts to watch

India’s B2B footwear market is quietly turning a corner. What used to be a whisper-network of factory reps and city wholesalers is now a searchable, verifiable, and increasingly digital economy — and 2026 is the year the shift becomes impossible to ignore.

We spent the last quarter talking to more than 200 factory owners, wholesalers, and independent retailers to figure out which behaviours are actually changing on the ground. Five clear shifts stood out.

1. Verified storefronts replace the WhatsApp catalogue

The single-largest change we saw is manufacturers moving off scattered WhatsApp catalogues onto verified public storefronts. Retailers get a live, KYC-cleared front door with pricing gated behind login — factories get a QR poster they can print and share.

2. Hyperlocal delivery beats the two-week factory lead time

Same-day and next-day fulfilment for wholesale orders was a fringe idea in 2024. In 2026 it’s becoming the default expectation for orders under 200 pairs. Procur Express and similar dark-store networks are the reason.

3. GST is a green flag, not a barrier

New retailers used to see GST verification as friction. In 2026 it’s the primary trust signal — unverified storefronts convert 60% worse than verified ones on the same catalogue.

4. Data trumps intuition on drops

  • Size-run planning based on last-quarter demand, not last-year gut feel
  • Colour ratios read from actual sell-through, not showroom favourites
  • Reorder triggers tied to real-time stock, not weekly stocktake
If your factory still does a size-9 heavy pack because "that’s what always sold," you’re shipping dead stock. The data has moved.Ridhima Sethi, Growth stories

5. Creator-led B2B is not a fad

The final shift is the strangest one. Sneaker creators and shoe reviewers are now driving genuine wholesale demand — not just consumer sell-through. Procur’s Creator Connect launched in Q2 partly to formalise this.

The manufacturers who lean into these five shifts will end 2026 with more orders, tighter working capital cycles, and — crucially — a defensible customer base that isn’t one wholesaler defection away from disaster.
